Keeping with the football theme

I checked out the new range of Nomis Football boots at rebel last weekend... Man-o-man are they sweet! They look and feel better than any of the Puma Kings that have wrapped around my feet over the years. I'm considering the Spark and Glove versions... and depsite the wet in Sydney at the moment, I'll prob opt for the Firm Ground boot.

They're almost good looking enough to be featured on SnkrFrkr. Afterall, if they're good enough for Harry Kewell...

Which brings me to the North Sydney Soccer Club... it looks like being my first new club in ten years!  Hey, I'm a loyal bloke ok! NSSC appears highly organised, well supported by sponsors and they have first & reserve teams for both Premier League and the All Age teams! So, it's going to be a tough few weeks of gruelling trials I guess. I'm even giving up the Vodka and red wine for two months to help improve the fitness levels...

Blogs take centre stage for World Cup

Blogs have taken centre stage at this year's World Cup, overtaking traditional fan forums to provide a very global and most often biased view of the major football tournament (soccer in Australia and the US). Fellow PR blogger Drew B has linked to a site http://www.ihateronaldo.com/ which blames the Portugal / ManU player (not the Brazillian) for England's demise... The site has had so much hate traffic that it crashed.

The Socceroos lost to Italy's national diving team, but hey, we're all so proud of the Aussie's mighty efforts... and not at all bitter...   

Socceroos robbed!

Australia stands proud of the awe inspiring efforts of its Socceroos after a gut wrenching last second dive by Italy that netted a penalty and a result for them. Italy's experience in milking free kicks paid off with a HIGHLY dubious penalty against Lucas "HERO" Neill. Scotty Chipperfield  was man of the match without a doubt.  The tickertape parade in Sydney's CBD will be massive.  Watch this space.

Liverpool FC --- FA Cup Winners -- YAY

Liverpool FC has won the FA Cup in one of the best finals in recent memory... It took a spectacular 90th minute goal from Liverpool FC hero Gerrard to equal and a penalty shootout to win the trophy... and at my end about 6 beers, a bottle of 2001 Shiraz and 4 nervous hrs to finally knock out West Ham who played a brilliant final and were somewhat unlucky. (But then again they did get ahead via an own goal and a VERY, VERY dubious offside decision)...

Fantastic drama!

But as a Liverpool FC fan... YAY! Bring on the season 2007! This was Liverpool FC's 43rd major trophy...

Now only 28 days until the World Cup... GO the SOCCEROOS!
